Ohhhhhhhhh the emails. I have received a ton of emails on BL’s (Backlinks). Ok. I will solve this equation. There is NO secret to getting found on all the search engines. There is NO magic in getting high placement. It is simple, but takes work. Let me break it down for you.

Ok. So you have this awesome website which is the best in design, content, image, and price / lead. Great. You have done a lot of work thus far. You check online with MSN search, Yahoo, Google..and maybe even Mamma. You lag. You find your site on like page 4 or maybe 8. Good grief Charlie Brown, you have fumbled the ball somewhere. There is one MAJOR..that’s spelled M-A-J-O-R oversight. BL. Back links. Sites which link to your site. There is even a art to it, believe it or not.

Once you establish legitmacy in the market place, people will link to you. Personal sites and forums seem to be the leaders in this area. This is good, but not the Holy Grail. You have to come up with an anchor formula and position yourself on major websites dealing with your topic. Communicate with them. This is where “real world” communication and business comes into play. There may be some sort of reciprocation involved (i.e. link swapping). Ok, so you now have these fantastic “high-level” relationships with vendors, partners or commercial sites which agree to display a link to your site. Now you must give them the anchor format.

Let me give you an example of a site which I am supporting right now called RChydroFlyer.com. The format I give the vendors varies, but follows some rules:

Do you see the relevance? I want to market and SEO for Hydro Foam on this one. Include a title tag and some good text for the link you want to give. You could even end up giving different links and anchors to different vendors, depending on the keyword relationship with your site. Easy huh? Remember the BLs. They will make the grass grow.
