Also called CSEs, Shopping Comparison Engines, Shopping Engines, etc., etc., and So Forth, Blah

Here is the 2010 list of what Schawel. considers the most successful shopping engines to date based on our entire years’ worth of e-commerce clients. Since we have access to all their metrics we can report these figures accurately with a bit of basting. What we did is pool all our clients despite their industry and created some basic stats that are easily digestible.

1. Google Product Shopping

No surprise here. Time after time Google generates big numbers for the majority of all our clients. We also thought that the Like.com acquisition was going to go somewhere but perhaps not yet.

2. Bing Shopping

What? Oh yes. They over took Yahoo this year as a real alternative. They consistently provides sales for all my clients.

3. The Find

Definitely a surprise. They were mentioned a few times in some tech blogs and then again in the New York Times.

4. Amazon

For merchants that can run through the Amazon gauntlet and successfully populate and launch the feed, yes, it’s totally worth while. Some merchant simply feel all the obstacles are not worth a month of back and forth.

5. Yahoo

Wah, wah. They are slowly slipping out of 5th place as a revenue generator. A few years ago they generated quite the revenue but there is a whole lot more competition these daze.

This is simply our metrics based on our clients throughout 2010. We don’t attempt to explain this nor do we mention some of the edge-cases.

Special thanks to GoDataFeed for working with us for the last year. Ro and Lin have been super helpful this year with our clients and tech support.
