/v/vspfiles/templates/YOURTEMPLATE/images/banners/
Problem
Many design templates in the Volusion are missing the /banners/ directory. Many Volusion users (maybe hundreds) may have this affiliate issue. If this directory is missing from your store, then all the images for the Volusion affiliate program do not exist. Now let me explain further…
When users sign-up for to become an affiliate, an affiliate link pops up in their MyAccount.asp area. If they follow the link to myaccount_affiliate.asp they will see yet another link; Generate Banner Ads. Clicking that will bring you to myaccount_affiliate_banners.asp.
This is where things are going wrong. Many affiliates are not seeing images and are grabbing the HTML which is inclusive of the /banners/ directory. They then use that code on their super cool blog, Myspace, Facebook, whatever. An image will not show up and Volusion clients are getting CRM issues.
Solution
1. Start your FTP client.
2. Follow this path: /v/vspfiles/templates/YOURTEMPLATE/images/. Open the /images/ directory.
3. If you see the /banners/ directory you are probably fine. Open that directory and make sure those are your banners and they look oh so beautiful. If you don’t see the directory, create it.
4. While in the /images/ directory create the /banner/ directory.
Volusion Chat Transcript
Hello, and thank you for choosing Volusion! A representative will be with you shortly.
mike: Were you aware that the automated process behind the Affiliate node on Volusion uses a directory called /banners/? I don't think that directory comes stock with each Volusion store.
Jorge Z.: Hello and thank you for choosing Volusion! I'll be right there to assist you.
Jorge Z.: That directory should be in your v/vspfiles/templates/yourtemplate/images/banners
mike: there is no directory
mike: called /banners/
Jorge Z.: Are you using a custom template?
mike: All my clients use custom temps
Jorge Z.: That could be the reason the banners folder isnt in there, You can add your own banner folder into the images folders
mike: But i looked at a bunch of Volusion stock templates and they don't seem to have it either.
mike: I looked at temp 100, 90, 17 and the custom ones
mike: None of them have this directory.
Jorge Z.: You can always just create the banners folder by right clicking and adding a new folder, Allthough the Default templates should have a banner folder in there
mike: Well, I know HOW to create a folder
mike: but what I am saying is that there are thousands of Volusion clients out there who are using the affiliate program but probably don't have that folder
mike: When did it go missing ...V5?
Jorge Z.: Hmm Some templates seem to have the directory while others dont. Not quite sure why it's set-up like that
mike: Interesting, right?
Jorge Z.: Yes its a bit weird, Hopefully by V5 they should all have that.
